Oh, Yeezus. Kanye West has been charged with misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft for allegedly attacking a paparazzo at LAX in July.
Photographer Daniel Ramos claims that the rapper punched him in an unprovoked attack and knocked his camera to the ground during the July 19 incident at the airport.
Ramos tried to talk to West despite repeated warnings not to. “I told you don’t talk to me, right? What you tryna do is get me in trouble so I’ll have to pay you like $250,000,” West is heard saying in a video.
The photographer was taken to the hospital and later hired attorney Gloria Allred, who says that the attack left her client badly injured.
If convicted of both misdemeanors, West faces a maximum of one year in jail.
He will be arraigned on Oct. 10, but he is not required to appear if his lawyer is present.
