Justin Timberlake, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Lead MTV VMA Nominations

Justin Timberlake

Break out the suit and tie. Justin Timberlake, along with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, leads the nominations for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards with six apiece, it was announced today.

Bruno Mars follows with four nominations, while Robin Thicke, Pink, Miley Cyrus, and Thirty Seconds to Mars score three each. Additionally, Drake, Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris, and fun. are up for two awards at next month’s show.

Timberlake’s “Mirrors” and Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” will compete in the coveted Video of the Year category alongside Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven,” Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” and Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

Macklemore was taken aback by the announcement. “DAMN!!!! We got 6 MTV video music award nominations!?!?!?!!!!” tweeted the Seattle rapper.

The Best Hip-Hop Video category includes Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Can’t Hold Us,” Drake’s “Started From the Bottom,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Swimming Pools (Drank),” A$AP Rocky’s “F**kin Problems,” and J. Cole’s “Power Trip.”

The 30th annual show will air live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for the first time on August 25.
