Snoop Lion

Eastside, Westside, Northside, Southside unify. Snoop Lion brings the people together in the video for “Lighters Up.” The rapper formerly known as Snoop Dogg puts on his Rasta glasses and travels to Trench Town, the birthplace of reggae, as part of his career reinvention and spiritual reawakening.

He raps around a bonfire with Jamaica’s own Mavado and Popcaan, and overlooks the ocean as a marching band plays on a cliff.

The track will appear on Snoop’s upcoming reggae album Reincarnated. “This is different because I’m singing the whole album and expressing love and peace,” explained Snoop. “I got songs on there that really mean something, that really can change the world because I’m a powerful individual and I realize that now. Sometimes I felt like the music I made was real negative and it didn’t give people nothing to aspire to, so now this music gives me a chance to really push out love and peace and positivity.”

The Reincarnated film arrives in select theaters on March 15, while the album is due in April featuring production from Major Lazer and Diplo.
