50 is coming this February. After several delays, the rap mogul has announced an official release date for his fifth album.
Originally due this year, Street King Immortal will now arrive on February 26, 2013. He took to Twitter to make the announcement. “STREET KING IMMORTAL Coming FEB26,” tweeted 50.
The follow-up to 2009’s Before I Self Destruct has spawned the singles “New Day” featuring Dr. Dre and Eminem, the Too $hort-assisted “First Date,” and “My Life” with Em and Adam Levine. He debuted a video for the latter earlier today.
The G-Unit chief promises the album will be worth the wait. “I will not let you down,” he told his followers. “I have really been working on this album. STREET KING IMMORTAL will be a classic.”
He has worked closely with Eminem on what he calls his most personal record to date. “The album itself is more personal than the albums in the past,” he told MTV News. “Now this record, it’s allowed us to do different things creatively. I’ve been able to come out a few times, more than usual to come to Detroit and work with Em for this record.”
The album, which borrows its title from his Street King energy drink, marks his final project for Interscope Records before his contract is due for renewal.
