Soulja Boy Shows 'Growth and Maturity' on New Album

Soulja Boy

Soulja Boy was only 16 years when he topped the charts with his breakout hit “Crank That (Soulja Boy).” Five years later, he is showing a more mature side with his fourth studio album Promise.

The 21-year-old rapper has been in the studio with Game, Waka Flocka Flame, Busta Rhymes, DJ Khaled, and Detail recording the follow-up to 2010’s The DeAndre Way, due this winter.

“This album is gonna sound like a whole new Soulja Boy,” he told DJ Skee. “Crazy beats, crazy lyrics. Growth and maturity in my music.”

He also stars in the movie Officer Down and is working on a video game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720, as well as his own clothing line Blvd. Supply, which he will showcase at MAGIC in Las Vegas.

But his ultimate goal still lies ahead. “I want to do an album that goes platinum in the first week,” he said.
