After John Legend’s nephew damaged one of his six coveted Grammys, the soul man took to Twitter, writing, “Casualty of the nephews staying with me. I hope they send replacement Grammys.”
Well, his prayers have been answered. The Recording Academy saw Mr. Legend’s tweet and hooked him up with a shiny new Grammy. Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow presented him with the replacement award for Best R&B Album for Get Lifted, which he originally won in 2006.
“I came to the right place,” joked Legend while accepting the fresh Grammy. “Thank you very much. I do not take these for granted, I am very appreciative of them. I will try to protect them in a better way. I am just happy there is restitution. My nephew and I will have to have a talk the next time he comes over.”
