Kanye West’s Rosewood movement goes beyond looking fresh in tailored suits, hard bottoms, and shades. Hip-hop’s stylish star explained the new attitude he’s adopted to match his swag.
If you want to be down with Rosewood, you better have class and manners. “That’s the Rosewood mentality, like affluence, like not cursing loud in public, pulling out chairs for your lady, opening up doors,” Kanye told DJ Clue on Power 105.1. Other requirements include “calling your grandmother” and “taking care of your kids.”
The mentality fits Kanye’s new outlook on life following a tumultuous past year. “That’s where I’m at at 33 and it’s ill ’cause I’m at this really good emotional, great place in my life, and they’re always saying in hip-hop that you have to be in a dark place to make great hip-hop,” he shared. “I feel like I rap better than I’ve ever rapped at this point. I be writing raps and I don’t even realize how positive they are. They just sound like regular good negative raps.”
The Rosewood movement was in full effect on Thursday night at a private show where Mr. West and fellow G.O.O.D. Music member John Legend performed. See the swanky invite below.
