Etta James vs. Beyoncé

Legendary blues singer Etta James had fighting words for Beyoncé and President Obama at a concert in Seattle last week.

“I tell you that woman he had singing for him, singing my song, she gonna get her ass whupped,” said the 71-year-old in response to the “Single Ladies” hitmaker performing “At Last,” the song she made famous, during Barack and Michelle Obama’s first dance as President and First Lady last month.

“The great Beyoncé,” James said sarcastically. “Like I said, she ain’t mine. … I can’t stand Beyoncé. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol’ president day, gonna be singing my song that I’ve been singing forever.”

James also had some unkind words for President Obama. “You guys know your president, right? You know the one with the big ears? … He ain’t my president.”

Beyoncé played Etta James in the movie Cadillac Records. The singers appeared together at the film’s premiere in December. Listen to the audio below.
