Nicki Minaj’s Queen is coming, but you’ll have to wait a little longer.
The rapper took to Instagram Live to reveal a new release date for her fourth album. Originally due June 15, the follow-up to 2014’s The Pinkprint, will now drop Aug. 10.
Despite her label wanting to release the project on its original date, Nicki said the pushback is the best decision. “Trust me, it’s the better choice,” she said. “I’m so excited. This album is so fucking incredible and it’s because I can’t give ya’ll half-ass. I refuse to.”
She added, “This is my best album. Everyone that’s heard this album has said it’s my best album.”
To hold fans over, she will drop three surprises between June 11-15 including the album cover (shot by Mert and Marcus) and the second single. “June is still going to be the most exciting month for us in the last three years,” she promised her fans.
So far, Queen has spawned two singles, including “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li,” which became Minaj’s 16th top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Additionally, a documentary is in the works, while a tour is still set to kick off in September.
