After dedicating “Hope” to Parkland shooting victims, XXXTentacion delivers two new tracks, set to appear on his forthcoming album.
First up is “SAD!,” which features suicidal thoughts due to an ill-fated romance. “Who am I?” he sings. “Someone that’s afraid to let go / You decide, if you’re ever gonna let me know / Suicide, if you ever try to let go.”
Over thunderous drums, Tentacion provides emo-melodies. “I’m lost then I’m found but it’s torture being in love,” he sings. “I love when you’re around, but I fuckin’ hate when you leave.”
Up next is the piano-laden “changes,” which features more melodic musings from the controversial rapper. “Baby, I don’t understand this,” he sings. “You’re changing, I can’t stand it / My heart can’t take this damage.” X’s friend PnB Rock is credited as a songwriter on the track and he makes a special uncredited cameo.
Both “SAD!” and “changes” are slated to appear on Tentacion’s forthcoming album, the follow-up to last year’s 17.
