Watch Aminé's 'Spice Girl' Video Featuring Mel B & Issa Rae

  /  10.10.2017

Aminé does what he wants, what he really, really wants, in the video for “Spice Girl,” the latest single off his debut album Good for You.

The self-directed clip starts with Aminé and a young lady who looks just like him. In fact, his face is superimposed on her body. A series of odd vignettes follow, including a police chase, in which he rides a toilet bike, and a bathroom scene, where he uses an enormous lotion bottle.

Issa Rae makes a surprise appearance in the video. The “Insecure” star visits him in prison, while sporting an Aminé shirt that looks like old Spice Girls merch. Later, Melanie “Mel B” Brown, also known as Scary Spice, shows up for a profanity-laced blooper reel. The Mikey Alfred-directed “STFU” video airs during credits, while the “Caroline” rapper seems bored at a house party.

Taking to Twitter, Aminé celebrated the new visual. “thank you to my favorite @issarae for playing my baby mama,” he wrote. “my first concert ever was a spice girls concert when i was 5, to get Mel B in this was so special to me…quit w the games and make me your main bitch @vmas.”

Rae responded by professing her love for his work. “Love him,” she tweeted. “Love this song. Love this album.”

Aminé will continue along his “For You Tour” through Nov. 16 in Los Angeles. The trek comes in support of his debut LP, which features appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Nelly, Offset, Kehlani, and Charlie Wilson.
