Less than a year after Camila Cabello’s departure, Fifth Harmony returns with a new album announcement and a special performance on “The Tonight Show.”
Confirming that their self-titled LP will drop Aug. 25, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui performed “Down” with a little help from Gucci Mane.
Fashionably dressed in black-and-white outfits, the four singers performed with a live band amid pink and purple lights. When Guwop hit the stage, also dapper in black and white, the lights turned red.
Promoting the appearance, Drop Top Wop shared a photo of himself with the quartet. In the caption, he joked about replacing Cabello in the group’s lineup. “Meet the newest member of @FifthHarmony 😂,” he wrote.
Prior to the announcement, Lauren spoke about whether they thought about changing their name since parting ways with Camila.
“It was obviously a thought, just because it was a prevalent thing that there’s four of us and not five,” she told MTV News. “Regardless, we were all very united on the fact that we didn’t want to change the name … Fifth Harmony is the name that we grew with. It’s our brand. It’s who we are. It’s our whole entire moment, what we spent five years on.”
Dinah Jane added: “The fans named us Fifth Harmony … and now, they’re the fifth member.”
