Report: Usher Paid $1.1 Million to Settle Herpes Lawsuit

  /  07.19.2017

Usher is facing a sea of criticism after a scandal regarding his sexual history has been uncovered.

According to Radar Online, the R&B superstar paid $1.1 million to settle a 2012 lawsuit for spreading herpes to an unnamed ex, who reportedly works as a celebrity stylist.

Usher Raymond was reportedly “exposed to herpes” in 2009 or 2010. He reportedly had “greenish discharge” emanating from his penis at one time, but was later labeled an “asymptomatic carrier” of the sexually-transmitted disease, according to court documents cited in the report.

He reportedly told the stylist of his disease at first, but later convinced her that he would receive negative STD results. The couple had unprotected sex from then on.

“Believing Raymond’s statements that it had been nothing and cleared up, [she] continued her relationship,” said the alleged victim’s lawyer in the legal complaint for damages.

However, three weeks after one of their sexual encounters, the woman woke up feeling “very sick,” with a “fever of 100 degrees, chills, headaches, and aches and pains.” She reportedly suffered from “lesions and blisters in her vagina” and was diagnosed with herpes.

Usher reportedly admitted that he carries the herpes virus and “apologized for infecting [her]” after he was confronted about the disease.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles, where a person is required to notify sexual partners if they’ve been infected with genital herpes.

Although the report has been uncovered for the first time, the lawsuit was reportedly settled for $1.1 million on Dec. 28, 2012.
