Sean “Diddy” Combs once again reigns atop the “Forbes Five” list.
With a whopping $820 million, the Bad Boy mogul takes the throne on the annual list of the wealthiest hip-hop artists. Puff earned much of his wealth through Cîroc Vodka, Revolt TV, his “Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour,” as well as other investments.
Jay Z is right on Diddy’s heels with $810 million. His wealth comes from his ownership of TIDAL, Roc Nation, and through various side ventures, including his film-TV deal with The Weinstein Company.
Diddy celebrated the moment by posting a photo of himself next to Jay Z. “We push each other,” he wrote. “We inspire each other… #BlackExcellence.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Dre rounds out the top 3 with $740 million. That figure continues to be aided by his 2014 sale of Beats to Apple for $3 billion, which earned him the biggest one-year payday ever by a living musician. He’s invested wisely since. A 14,000 square foot Los Angeles mansion he purchased for $40 million is now worth approximately 20 percent more.
Elsewhere on the list, it’s a Cash Money affair. Amid controversy, Birdman takes the No. 4 slot with $110 million, thanks to his lucrative deals with Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne. Meanwhile, Drizzy takes the No. 5 spot ($90 million), thanks to Views, OVO, the “Summer Sixteen Tour,” Virginia Black, and his Apple and Nike deals.
Last year’s “Forbes Five” list was very similar, with Diddy leading the way. He was followed, in order, by Dr. Dre, Jay Z, Birdman, and Drake.
