It’s not so lit for a Travis Scott fan who was seriously injured at the rapper’s New York concert on Sunday (Apr. 30).
According to several reports, multiple fans jumped off second-floor balconies at the Terminal 5 event. At least one of them was encouraged to jump by Scott himself. “They gon’ catch you,” he told one fan. “Don’t be scared!”
However, a different fan saw a more dangerous ending to the stunt. This particular concertgoer hung off of the third-level balcony, before dropping to the ground. The man was hospitalized and, while his condition is not officially known, TMZ reports that he suffered “injuries including a possible broken leg and fractured back.”
At the time of the incident, Scott asked to see the fan in an effort to give him a ring off his own hand. “Take this ring,” he said, though it appears the fan was unable to stand on his own. “Hey, pick him up. Pick his ass up. Give him this ring. I gotta put this ring on him.”
Now, the incident has brought new concerns to light. “The safety of everyone is held in the highest regard and we are currently conducting an internal investigation to ensure that this does not happen again,” said a spokesperson for Travis. “We are deeply concerned about the guest who was injured and intend to offer him our support.”
Scott has remained in touch with the fan and is receiving reports on his health, according to the rep.
Tonight, La Flame’s “Birds Eye View Tour” continues in Pittsburgh. Later this year, he will head out on the road with Kendrick Lamar and D.R.A.M. as part of “The DAMN. Tour.”
