The Lox takes on Rick Ross.
Fresh off the Ruff Ryders reunion stage, Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch flip Renzel’s “Santorini Greece” standout off the Maybach boss’ Rather You Than Me LP.
Vibing out to the soulful Bink! instrumental, Styles kicks off the track with some gritty wisdom. “I’m in the street hall of fame,” he brags. “Poverty and crack in ’86, yeah, it’s all to blame / Spread all the love, save all the pain.”
Jada picks up from there. With his trademark rasp, he rhymes about loyalty and safety. “Before we blow it down, go look at the venue,” he raps. “Everybody eats, or nobody looks at the menu.”
Finally, Sheek brings the track home with a reflective rhyme about the L-O-X trajectory and success against odds. “In the hood, to make it out, your chance is tough,” he raps. “I ain’t look back since we first did the deal with Puff.”
The Roc Nation trio is coming off the aforementioned Double R reunion show, but they’re also fresh from their own “Filthy America…It’s Beautiful Tour.” The run came in support of their latest album, Filthy America…It’s Beautiful, which dropped in December.
