After winning Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year award, Rihanna continues her philanthropic efforts.
The singer’s Clara Lionel Foundation, named after her grandparents, will host its 3rd annual Diamond Ball in New York City for the first time on Sept. 14. The black-tie event will be held at Cipriani Wall Street, which is exactly what the worldwide superstar was looking for.
“New York always offers the perfect backdrop for an amazing event, which is why I am thrilled to have the Diamond Ball there,” said Rihanna. “It’s a great way to celebrate the Clara Lionel Foundation’s accomplishments as well as bring awareness to our mission globally. I know it’ll be a night to remember!”
As always, the event will raise money for CLF’s work in health and education around the world.
RiRi launched her first Diamond Ball in 2014 alongside guests Brad Pitt, Kim Kardashian, and Big Sean. In 2015, she followed up with her second Diamond Ball, featuring appearances by Will Smith, Kylie Jenner, Zendaya, and Kevin Hart.
Last month, RiRi earned Harvard’s 2017 Humanitarian of the Year honors, where she revealed what being a humanitarian means to her. “We’re all human,” she said. “We all just want a chance, a chance at life, a chance at an education, a chance at a future, really. At CLF [Clara Lionel Foundation], our mission is to impact as many lives as possible, but it starts with just one. Just one. As I stare out into this beautiful room, I see optimism, I see hope, I see the future. I know that each and every one of you has the opportunity to help someone else. All you need to do is help one person, expecting nothing in return. To me, that is a humanitarian.”
