Rick Ross makes several revelations on his just-released ninth studio album, Rather You Than Me. In addition to exposing Birdman, the MMG mogul addresses Meek Mill’s ill-fated romance with Nicki Minaj.
“I told Meek I wouldn’t trust Nicki,” he raps on the Raphael Saadiq-assisted “Apple of My Eye.” “Instead of beefing with your dog, you just give ’em some distance / We all make mistakes, let’s not be too ‘pecific.”
Nicki and Meek ended their relationship last year. The details of the breakup remain fuzzy, but it was plagued by rumors of infidelity.
Rozay’s Nicki reference appears on an album that also includes the Birdman diss track “Idols Become Rivals.” Minaj is signed to Baby’s Cash Money Records through Lil Wayne’s Young Money imprint.
Another Young Money MC who is mentioned on “Apple of My Eye” is Drake. “Own the biggest residential pool in the U.S.,” raps Renzel. “Drake and Kanye can invite every bitch they ever met.”
Former collaborators, Drake and Rozay have not been friendly of late due in large part to Drizzy’s Meek feud. On “Color Money” off his last album, 2015’s Black Market, Ross addressed the 6 God as well.
“My lil’ homie made a million on his girl tour,” he rapped. “We back to back and down to whack a ni**a unborn / Miami ni**as got ’em changing all the gun laws / So run Forrest, got some shooters and they dying too / I got more money than that pussy that you’re signed to.”
