As the R&B and hip-hop duo Mansionz, Mike Posner and blackbear team up for an ode to “Dennis Rodman,” the infamously controversial former NBA star.
Over a head-knocking beat, the twosome takes on the five-time champion’s rebellious spirit, promoting individuality along the way. “I’m gon’ do whatever it is I want to baby,” they sing. “Whatever it is I feel / I don’t care about who’s watchin’ / Dennis Rodman!”
Rodman, a two-time NBA All-Star, shows up and offers some of the blunt honesty he’s become known for. “I’ma talk about myself,” he says. “A lot of people don’t want to talk about Dennis Rodman anymore because they think he’s a has-been. They ask me, ‘When are you gonna slow down, man?’ I say, ‘I don’t give a fuck, man.’ I’m just gonna do Dennis Rodman. I’ll say it again: Dennis fuckin’ Rodman!”
Rodman, nicknamed The Worm, spent his NBA career playing for various teams, but his most successful seasons came as a two-time champ with the Bad Boy Detroit Pistons and a three-time champ with Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls.
“This is the greatest song of all time,” Posner tells Rap-Up. “Dennis Rodman is the greatest basketball player of all time.”
“Dennis Rodman” follows the singles “Rich White Girls” and “STFU” off Mansionz’ eponymous debut, which drops March 24 and features G-Eazy, Soren Bryce, and Cyhi the Prynce.
