Brandy Performs Hit-Filled Medley at Soul Train Awards
Brandy was sittin’ on “Top of the World” at the Soul Train Awards 2016.
During Sunday’s show, which was taped earlier this month at Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena, the R&B powerhouse took the stage for a special performance in honor of her Lady of Soul Award. Backed by an all-black background, backup dancers, a ladder, and lights, Brandy sang a medley of her biggest hits including “Almost Doesn’t Count,” “What About Us,” and “Full Moon.”
From there, the crowd pleasers continued with “Top of the World,” as Ma$e came through in an all-white fur coat. Fans including Teyana Taylor danced and rapped along as Mr. Betha and Ms. Norwood relived their ’98 smash.
Proclaiming her independence, Brandy kept the hits coming, performing “Baby,” “I Wanna Be Down,” and “Talk About Our Love.”
Jill Scott presented an emotional Brandy with the second annual Lady of Soul Award. “This is so humbling. I just want to thank God for this moment,” she said while her parents and daughter Sy’Rai looked on. “It feels good to be loved. It feels good to be very, very thankful and I’m just blown away by tonight.”
