Skylar Grey Debuts Eminem-Produced Single 'Come Up for Air'

  /  09.03.2016

Skylar Grey is back with another Eminem-produced single.

This time around, the frequent collaborators unleash “Come Up for Air,” a love song with a twist. “[It’s] technically a break-up song, but it’s about loving the other person so much that you’ll wait forever for them to come back to you,” said Skylar. “Even if that means you’ll die alone.”

Directed by Daniel Carberry, the song’s stunning video gives Grey’s lyrics added depth. In it, Skylar appears somber in front of a white backdrop as she gets lost and frozen thanks to the elements of nature.

Perhaps the video lends insight into the album title as “Come Up for Air” is the lead single off her upcoming LP, Natural Causes. The 13-track effort also includes another Eminem collaboration. They unite once more on “Kill for You,” only this time around, Slim is a featured guest.

The album follows 2013’s Don’t Look Down, which Shady executive produced. “I’ve actually been really lucky to have a lot of time with Marshall, giving me advice and feedback on all the songs, helping me pick the songs for the album,” Grey told Rap-Up that year. “I think he’s been pretty involved.”

Natural Causes is due Sept. 23, the same day Grey heads out on a 12-city tour, starting in San Francisco and hitting cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, before closing Oct. 11 in New York.
