Jidenna knows how to throw a party.
The Classic Man recently hosted a listening for his debut album Long Live the Chief at West Hollywood’s Blind Dragon. The star-studded event, presented by Toyota and shared on @ToyotaShowcase, was hosted by Janelle Monáe and L.A. Reid.
“Tonight was my first actual time playing my music for friends and partners,” said Jidenna. “It was an amazing and swank-able listening party.”
It was particularly “amazing,” he said, because he’s so proud of Chief. “They say that it takes your whole life to write your first album,” explained Jidenna. “To me, it takes many years. I know I look like an overnight sensation. It feels great to be done and to have something that I believe will change, not just this world or this era, but eras to come.”
The energy was infectious all evening long as the dapper rapper and his Wondaland crew, including Janelle Monáe, sang along to each track and even made their way into the crowd to dance.
So far, fans have been given a taste of what’s to come from the October release with tracks like “Chief Don’t Run,” “Knickers,” and the irresistible “Little Bit More.”
