President Obama's Summer Playlist Includes Jay Z, Chance the Rapper, & Janet Jackson

What’s President Obama listening to all summer ’16?

The POTUS answers that question yet again with his second annual summer playlist, filled with fun-in-the-sun tunes by everybody from Jay Z, Nas, and Wale to Prince, Miles Davis, and D’Angelo.

“Been waiting to drop this: summer playlist, the encore,” tweeted Obama. “What’s everybody listening to?”

The two-part playlist features daytime and nighttime grooves. When he’s not on the job, the commander-in-chief is jamming out to Wale’s “LoveHate Thing,” Janelle MonΓ‘e’s “Tightrope,” Jidenna’s “Classic Man,” Jay Z and Pharrell’s “So Ambitious,” and Common’s “Forever Begins.” He’s also included joints like Aloe Blacc’s “The Man,” Nas and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley’s “As We Enter,” and Prince’s “U Got the Look.”

After hours, Obama turns down with smooth joints like D’Angelo’s “Lady,” Mary J. Blige and Method Man’s “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need,” and Chance the Rapper’s “Acid Rain.” He also slow jams with some Janet Jackson, Miles Davis, and Anthony Hamilton.

After seeing their songs get the presidential stamp of approval, Chance, Nas, and Common offered some enthusiastic responses.
