Travis Scott Talks Apple Music Deal, 'Birds' Delay, & Jay Z

  /  07.19.2016

Travis Scott’s sophomore album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight still hasn’t dropped despite his many promises. Now, he’s explaining why.

Recently, the “Antidote” MC addressed the pushbacks during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid. While he still hasn’t confirmed an official release date, Scott says fans should expect it soon through Apple Music.

“Any day now,” he said, after confirming a deal with Apple. “Any day. It’s gonna be any day. That’s the type of shit that’s on.”

Watch the full interview and see highlights from the conversation below.

On Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight’s delay: “It was supposed to come out last week. I just did my partnership with Apple Music and shit.”

On Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight’s sound: “It’s consistent. It’s a lot of good songs. That was my whole thing. I wanted a lot of good songs and no fillers. With this joint, it’s mad tracks, good songs.”

On Birds lyrics: “That’s what this album is full of: just reality. I’m cutting the bullshit. I’m not even preaching. I’m just saying what’s on my mind, how we feel, how me and my peers feel. I don’t know anything about the politics. I don’t really dive into it. But just being a black man in America, everything is f**ked up right now. Being a minority against the grain, everything is f**ked up.”

On his next single: “My next single has one of the illest rappers of all time. It’s super dope. That next song is not with Cudi, just in case. But I do have something coming with my guy for this album too.”

On Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight’s title: “We all are birds in our own sense…We’re all in this trap. So we all should find our way to fly.”

On Jay Z: “We talk almost every other other other other day. We talk about music all the time. He’s got his project. I don’t know what he’s got working on right now. I don’t want to spoil nothing. I don’t want to say nothing. You know how he rocks. Just know. We talk and shit could come out of it. I just don’t want to speak on what he’s doing. He’s a mastermind at his own thing. Who knows what he’s got going on? But I know it’s something crazy.

On Jay Z and Beyoncé: “They got an album coming out? I don’t know.”

On Kanye West: “For a lot of my albums, I come through in the fourth quarter, play my album, and he gives me that godly advice.”
