New Music: Rihanna - 'Sledgehammer'
Rihanna is back with another smash and watch out, because this time, she’s got a “Sledgehammer.”
On Monday (Jun. 27), RiRi unleashed her latest single, an anthemic vocal powerhouse that serves as a companion to the upcoming sci-fi film Star Trek Beyond.
“I hit a wall,” she sings triumphantly. “I thought that I would hurt myself / Oh I was sure your words would leave me unconscious and on the floor / I’d be lying cold, lifeless / But I hit a wall / I hit ’em all / Watch them fall / You’re just another brick and I’m a sledgehammer.”
The song might have roots in 2014. Some have pointed out that the hook’s tagline was actually tweeted by Bad Gal way back then. “Sledgehammer” was reportedly penned by Sia, marking the follow-up to their 2012 hit “Diamonds.”
