Vic Mensa Freestyles on Hot 97

  /  06.06.2016

There’s a lot of rhyming going on.

Fresh off the release of his new mixtape—There’s Alot Going On—Vic Mensa paid a visit to Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” for a freestyle session.

“Thank you Based God,” he raps over Pusha T and Jay Z’s new single “Drug Dealers Anonymous.” “You don’t know my name, better watch your damn words / You don’t want to end up with that Kevin Durant curse.”

Spitting lines about everything from Tamir Rice and Freddie Gray to Alexander McQueen and Vera Wang, Vic delivers two dizzying freestyle verses worth rewinding and replaying.

The freestyle comes just as Vic’s tape dropped, and as he preps his upcoming album, which will be his Roc Nation debut.

Mensa is high on life right now, after celebrating his birthday with Jay Z, Beyoncé, and Chance the Rapper. The MC is now 23, or as he put it, in his “Jordan year.”
