Yes, the Drake vocals are finally in.
And with that, DJ Khaled has unleashed “For Free,” his long-awaited collaboration with the 6 God through — where else? — Apple Music.
For his part, Drake pulls inspiration from Too $hort’s “Blow the Whistle” and Kendrick Lamar’s “For Free?” Meanwhile, Khaled boasts about his ongoing feud with “they.”
“They don’t want me to have another anthem,” he says during the track’s breakdown. “So I made sure I got another anthem. It’s We the Best, OVO. The summer’s ours.”
During an interview with Zane Lowe, Khaled reiterated his appreciation for the 6 God. “To work with Drake is always a special moment for me,” he said. “And I’m very grateful for it.
“It’s gonna be every female’s favorite record and every hustler’s favorite record,” he added. “When Drake and Khaled come together, it’s always the biggest anthems.”
Of course, “For Free” isn’t the first time Khaled and Drizzy have teamed up. They previously collaborated on the singles “No New Friends” and “I’m On One.”
This is an important record for Khaled because it’s the lead single off his upcoming Major Key album, which will feature collaborations with Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Rick Ross, Kanye West, Bryson Tiller, and Jay Z and Future on a record called “I Got the Keys.”
While waiting on a Major Key release date, listen to Khaled and Drake deliver another one.
