Joey Bada$$ is no longer “Devastated.” And his new single is all about overcoming that adversity.
“I used to be so devastated,” he raps. “At times I thought we’d never make it / But now we’re on our way to greatness / And all that ever took was patience.”
Produced by Adam Pallin, Kirk Knight, and Powers Pleasant, the track features an uptempo beat, one that is a bit different from what Joey’s used to rapping on.
Up next for Joey and the Pro Era crew is the second annual “STEEZ Day,” which is slated to take place July 7 at The Novo in downtown L.A. The festival, which will feature A$AP Mob, Danny Brown, and Raury, is in honor of Capital STEEZ, the Pro Era rapper who died in 2012. Proceeds will be donated to STEEZ’s family, according to Billboard.
Listen to Bada$$ put his “pain in the cadence” and “soak up the vibe” below.
