The Drakeover continues. Fresh off his seven Much Music Video Award nominations, Drake does it again, this time at the 2016 BET Awards.
Drizzy keeps his leading role here with nine nominations, including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, and Video of the Year.
The 6 God will be facing stiff competition for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, as he goes against Fetty Wap, Future, J. Cole, Kanye West, and Kendrick Lamar.
Meanwhile, there’s also serious talent in the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist category, where Nicki Minaj takes on DeJ Loaf, Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott, and Remy Ma.
Elsewhere, Beyoncé and Rihanna each end up with five nominations, including face-offs in Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration, and Video of the Year.
“These nominees represent depth and diversity in achievement over the past year and we look forward to recognizing them next month,” said BET’s President of Programming, Stephen Hill. “This show will be innovative and special; in addition to celebrating the best in entertainment, we’ll also spend time throughout the show remembering Prince as only BET can. You can count on memorable performances and moments in honor of a true legend.”
BET also teamed up with choreographer Will “WilldaBEAST” Adams to announce the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, and Best Male Hip-Hop Artist nominations in an intense dance video.
The 2016 BET Awards will air live on Sunday, June 26, from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET.
