Drake Tops Billboard Hot 100 with 'One Dance'

  /  05.09.2016

Drake got his “One Dance” and now, he’s also got a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, his first as a lead artist thanks to the Views single.

“One Dance,” which features WizKid and Kyla, jumps to No. 1 this week, just as Drake’s album nabs the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

Previously, the 6 God has only reached the top spot on the Hot 100 as a featured guest on Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” in 2010 and “Work,” which spent nine weeks at No. 1 this year.

Before this major win, Drizzy’s peak performances on this chart were 2009’s “Best I Ever Had” and last year’s “Hotline Bling.” In 2015, the Toronto spitter said that if “Hotline” became his first No. 1 as a lead artist, it would “be the biggest moment” of his career.

“I spend my life trying to make waves for the city I am from,” he wrote on Instagram. “No accolades really matter to me other than the fact that I have never had a billboard number one. If I get my first number one during the month of October it will be the biggest moment of my career to date (in my mind) and if you are looking for me on that particular evening I will be passed out in the water slide that connects to our pool.”

Moving on, Desiigner’s “Panda” slips 2-1 this week, Mike Posner nabs the No. 4 spot with “I Took a Pill in Ibiza,” and Fifth Harmony rounds out the top 5 with their Ty Dolla $ign-assisted single “Work from Home.”

Drake also pops up as a guest on this week’s No. 6 slot, which belongs to Rihanna’s “Work.” Elsewhere on the chart, Calvin Harris and Rihanna strike at No. 9 with “This Is What You Came For,” and Justin Bieber closes out the top 10 with “Love Yourself.”
