2 Chainz Tries On World's Most Expensive Hats

  /  04.12.2016

While Kendrick Lamar saluted Kobe Bryant in a video for ESPN, 2 Chainz is also paying homage to the Black Mamba as part of season 3 of his GQ web series “Most Expensivest Shit.”

For the special Kobe episode, the ColleGrove rapper met up with New Era executive Emma Oldenkamp, who showcased two super pricey fitted caps that were made to honor Bryant as he gears up to play his final NBA game on Wednesday against the Utah Jazz.

So what makes these two hats so expensive? First, they’re limited edition caps with only eight of each being made. But they’re also crafted using “exclusive” and “premium” material, according to Oldenkamp.

The “Purple Diamond Cashmere Cap” comes in purple Italian cashmere to represent where Bryant was raised. It features five yellow diamonds to represent his five championships, and gold snakeskin to rep his nickname: Black Mamba. That hat costs a cool $24,000.

The “Black 24 Cap,” which retails for a whopping $38,000, comes in black lambskin and features a “24” logo in 18-karat gold with a bill made of python and gold snakeskin.

“I’m the hugest Kobe fan in the world,” said 2 Chainz. “He’s put his blood, sweat, and tears into this game. The fact that he’s played for 20 years, you have to applaud him.”

But despite his love for the L.A. Laker, he wasn’t willing to splurge on a hat. “We appreciate you, Black Mamba,” he added. “But your boy Tit will not be placing a bid for one of those expensive ass fitted caps.”

If you have money to blow, both caps will be available exclusively at the TEAM LA store at Staples Center on April 13, the day of Kobe’s final game.
