MTV is going to let you finish, but Kanye West has the best music videos of all time. The hip-hop superstar will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this weekend’s 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
The VMAs’ highest honor will be presented to West during the live broadcast from L.A.’s Microsoft Theater on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
West will be honored for blending “musical and visual artistry to powerful effect” throughout his storied career, from “Bound 2” to “Jesus Walks” to his epic “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” short film.
Past Vanguard recipients include luminaries like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and most recently Justin Timberlake.
Hosted by Miley Cyrus, the VMAs will also feature The Weeknd, who will perform his No. 1 hit “Can’t Feel My Face” for the first time on television. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the days ahead.
