Rico Love knows how to throw a party. The Division1 hitmaker—who’s written hits including Usher’s “There Goes My Baby” and Beyoncé’s “Sweet Dreams”—lets the good times roll in the video for “Happy Birthday.” He takes over a suburban house and parties with an all-female crew, lounging by the pool, singing in the driveway, and celebrating with cake and balloons. His friends play Twister and throw glitter—it all looks like a lot of PG-rated fun.
The festive clip, directed by Parris Stewart, then switches into an infomercial for a party line as Love performs “Days Go By” alongside his sexy squad.
“This video is one of my favorites because it shows a lighter side of me,” said Love. “I was paying homage to the sound that I grew up admiring from Puff and Pharrell. Back when people danced in clubs and didn’t just stand on couches and take pictures. It was also consistent to the theme of my album. Pay attention to the ending and see how it all ties in.”
Both songs can be found on his debut album Turn the Lights On, which was released in May.
