T.I. is changing his album title…again. The rapper-actor has announced that his 10th LP will now be called The Dime Trap.
While promoting his Marvel Comics movie Ant-Man, which opened at No. 1 at the box office, he revealed the new title. “My 10th album, The Dime Trap, I’m working on it. I just released the first teaser from it yesterday and it’s going to be an extension or a continuation of the vibe from Trap Muzik,” he told MovieWeb (via HHNM).
He plans to take it back to his roots with the follow-up to 2014’s Paperwork. “I feel like, when you’ve done hits like ‘Whatever You Like’ and ‘Dead and Gone,’ when you do those mainstream kind of ‘Blurred Lines’-ish kind of records, you don’t go and try to top ‘Blurred Lines,” he explained. “You just come to a whole new element, bring it back down and build the process back over again. I’m breaking it all down, back to the element of where my music first began to interest people, and build it all over again.”
The album was previously titled Trap’s Open and before that it was called Paperwork: The Return.
“This next one is going to be unapologetically gangsta,” Tip told HHS1987 earlier this year.
He debuted the first teaser, “Project Steps,” in March and is currently shooting the action thriller Sleepless Night in Atlanta with Jamie Foxx and Gabrielle Union.
