Just days after paying tribute to Janet Jackson at the BET Awards, Jason Derulo channels the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, in the Syndrome-directed video for his new single “Cheyenne.”
In the choreographed clip, which was inspired by The Haunting, the pop crooner falls for a temptress named Cheyenne, but he can’t seem to escape her. Clad in a purple suit, Jason busts out some “Thriller”-esque moves alongside a troupe of zombie ballerinas.
“I wanted to take it back to when music videos had a huge concept and a huge dance break,” he told “GMA.” “The video is kind of like The Haunting, Cheyenne is haunting my mind and she haunts me within the video.”
Produced by Ian Kirkpatrick and The Monsters and the Strangerz, the 80’s-inspired track can be found on his fourth album Everything Is 4, which also features Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Lopez, Meghan Trainor, and K. Michelle.
