Nicki Minaj Joins Drake at Coachella
After making out with Madonna last week, Drake brought out Nicki Minaj as his surprise guest during Weekend 2 of Coachella. The rap diva strut across the stage in a crown, Run-D.M.C. crop top, and flannel skirt at the end of “Truffle Butter.” But she did not perform and only blew kisses to the crowd, while Drake showered her with praise.
“It’s been too long, mama. We might have to hug this shit out, mama,” said Drizzy. “Coachella, you gotta make some noise for the love of my life. I love this girl right here. We family forever.”
He also congratulated her on her recent engagement to Meek Mill. “Congratulations and all that. I just want to give you a hug and shit,” he said.
Earlier in the evening, Nicki popped up during David Guetta’s set at the Sahara tent. She danced on stage while Guetta spun their Listen collaboration “Hey Mama” as Beyoncé looked on from the crowd.
Following his headlining gigs at Coachella, Drake’s mother congratulated her son in a text, which he shared on Instagram. “You always figure it out, son—I knew you’d close it down as a superb memory for your crowd,” wrote Sandi Graham. “The next super-sized crowd will be Wireless? Xoxoxo.”
