Watch a New Trailer for the N.W.A. Biopic 'Straight Outta Compton'

  /  04.01.2015

The countdown is on to the N.W.A. movie. After Ice Cube shared the first trailer with the world last year, a new theatrical trailer has premiered via MTV News. In the two-and-a-half-minute clip, we get to see the struggles that the world’s most dangerous group faced on their way to the top.

“Our art is a reflection of our reality,” Ice Cube (played by his son O’Shea Jackson Jr.) tells reporters during a press conference scene.

Directed by F. Gary Gray (Friday), the biopic also stars Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E and Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre.

Get another peek at the film before it hits theaters on Aug. 14.

In a recent interview, Dre admitted that he was hesitant at first to do the film. “I thought it would put a blemish on our legacy,” he told Big Boy on 92.3. “Once we got in it, it started feeling good.”

He hopes the movie will strike a chord with viewers. “We wanted to show the heart of the guys and everything we went through during the creation of the record and everything we went through before the demise of the group,” he said.

“We wanted to be inspirational. We wanted to show just the ultimate brotherhood, betrayal. It has everything. We really wanted to get across how we feel about women ’cause there’s a big misconception, how much we respect our women.”
