T.I. and Pharrell

T.I. is getting his Paperwork in order. The King of the South has tapped Pharrell Williams for the next single off his upcoming album.

“We have definitely decided on ‘Paperwork’ featuring Pharrell [because it] pretty much kinda sums up the tone of the album,” Tip told MTV News. “The cinematic presentation of it all. When you listen to the album, top to bottom, it kinda sounds like the score to a movie and I think ‘Paperwork’ is the perfect introduction to that.”

The Neptunes hitmaker is also executive producing the project, which has spawned the singles “About the Money” featuring Young Thug and the Iggy Azalea-assisted “No Mediocre.” The Tiny-inspired “Stay” featuring Victoria Monét leaked last month.

During an interview with Bootleg Kev, Tip revealed the guest list which includes Rick Ross, The-Dream, Lil Boosie, Jeezy, Trae Tha Truth, Nipsey Hussle, Problem, and more.

An exact release date has not been announced, but Tip said it would arrive “somewhere in Libra season.”

Paperwork marks the first album in a trilogy. “The sound sonically of this one is soulful, musical, kinda like [OutKast’s] Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik or Aquemini or [Jay Z’s] Blueprint,” he said. “It just has an incredible amount of soul and a perfect hybrid between the ahead-of-the-curve, new-school sound and the classic, nostalgic, soulful sound of yesteryear.”

Following Paperwork, T.I. plans to release the Grand Hustle compilation, which is tentatively due in December.

“What’s holding up the Hustle Gang project is that we have some new additions to the mix, and we didn’t wanna put out the project out without including or allowing those new additions to be part of it,” he told MTV. “Maybe we’ll do a stroke of midnight release on New Years. We did that with F**k Da City Up and it did well, so maybe we’ll try that again.”
