Remy Ma

Remy Ma is finally home. After serving six years behind bars, the Bronx rapper has been released from prison.

According to Miss Info, Big Pun’s 34-year-old protégée left Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women at 3 p.m. EST on Friday (Aug. 1), where she had been serving time for shooting her former friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph.

She was originally scheduled to be released on Thursday, but was held an extra day due to an alleged “phone violation.” Her husband Papoose was there to pick her up in a white Lamborghini.

“#I’m back!!” Remy wrote on Instagram.

While locked up, she received her associates degree in sociology, married Papoose, and had plenty of time to reflect. “I grew up a lot and I look at things a lot differently,” she told Angie Martinez last month.

Her peers welcomed her back. “Welcome home remy ma!!!!.. come out like a soulja,” tweeted Sean Kingston.

She is filming a reality show and can’t wait to get back in the studio. “I am so alive. This is gonna be unfair,” said Remy, who has been fielding offers from record labels.

But first, she’s going to take some time for herself. “I’m going to get my hair done. I’m going to get my nails done,” she told Billboard. “After I get dolled up and lay down some records and my voice is out, I want to get away and get my back blown out for like a week. Mess up the hair and make-up that I got done. I have been in prison for a while.”

UPDATE: Papoose has shared the first post-prison photo of Remy on Instagram. Her eyes are covered by a V. Stiviano-inspired visor as she exits his white Lamborghini.

“#Tomfordlife #lambolife the #queen is back!!!!!!!!!!” he wrote.

Remy also posted a photo of herself in the studio with DJ Khaled, writing, “I had a busy first day #ImAround.”
