Dr. Dre Celebrates Beats Deal, Declares Himself 'First Billionaire in Hip-Hop'

Dr. Dre and Tyrese

Dr. Dre is about to become a billionaire. Apple is reportedly in talks to purchase Beats Electronics, the company he co-founded with Jimmy Iovine, for $3.2 billion. But while an official deal has yet to be announced, the hip-hop mogul got the celebration started early. He partied with some of his homeboys including director F. Gary Gray and Tyrese, who posted the video to Facebook.

“They need to update the Forbes list. Shit just changed,” said Tyrese.

“In a big way,” added Dre. “The first billionaire in hip-hop right here from the motherfu**ing West Coast.”

According to Forbes, the deal would bump Dre’s net worth to around $800 million. While not quite enough to land on the Forbes 400, it would easily make him hip-hop’s wealthiest mogul, topping current champ Diddy by $100 million.

His fellow “Forbes Five” honoree congratulated him. “This is BIG! This is Historical! If anyone deserves it, it’s you! Congratulations Dr. Dre!” wrote Puff.
