Mary J. Blige is kicking off the holidays with Revolt TV. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has partnered with Diddy’s network for a one-hour primetime special.
“A Mary Christmas” will premiere on Thanksgiving night at 8 p.m. EST, and will feature Mary singing Christmas classics in front of a live audience.
The special, executive produced by Andre Harrell, was named after her first-ever holiday album A Mary Christmas. The R&B powerhouse will share holiday memories and perform seasonal tunes from “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” to “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” with a live orchestra and choir arranged by music director Kim Burse.
Queen Latifah will host, while Tyrese will join Mary for a special performance with musical director David Foster.
“Mary J. Blige has had a long and prosperous relationship with our chairman, Sean Combs, and our vice chairman, Andre Harrell,” said Revolt TV CEO Keith Clinkscales. “We are all proud and excited to have the incomparable Mary J. Blige present a family-friendly television event that appeals to music fans of all ages. Mary is blessed with a gift in her emotional delivery of song and we are happy to present it to the Revolt nation for this holiday season.”
Encore presentations will air in the days after Thanksgiving. Revolt TV is available to Time Warner and Comcast subscribers in major markets including Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago.
A Mary Christmas entered at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 in October and features collaborations with Barbra Streisand, Jessie J, Marc Anthony, and The Clark Sisters.
