Ciara renamed her album and revealed the cover art and tracklisting yesterday. Now she has announced a new release date for the project.
The self-titled album, formerly titled One Woman Army, has been moved from June 4 to July 9. She shared the new date with her fans on Twitter. “Take A New Journey With Me. “CIARA”…July 9th!” she wrote.
“I started working on this record more than a year ago, and since then, I have found my creative clarity on the direction I wanted to go in,” said CiCi in a press release. “It was almost a whole surge of fresh energy, and I pushed myself to be even more creative. I’m more open to change. I’m learning so much of about myself, and I’ve become really comfortable and free. This album goes beyond my music. This time it’s about taking a new journey with me.”
She opens up like never before on the follow-up to 2010’s Basic Instinct. “In the past, I’ve masked my emotions,” she said. “Now I’m embracing them. I’m running towards my fears and the things that would usually make me uncomfortable—I’m in tune with what’s happening to me, and I’m not afraid of expressing myself.”
The video for the Mike WiLL Made It-produced “Body Party” will premiere April 22 on BET’s “106 & Park” and VEVO. The clip, directed by X (Jay-Z, Usher), was shot in Ciara’s hometown of Atlanta.
“It’s been so many years since I’ve done a video in Atlanta,” she said. “That alone was refreshing, but went beyond that. We captured the spirit of the song and the feeling of having a body party. It’s the perfect combination of fun and sensuality.”
Ciara is now available for pre-order on iTunes featuring collaborations with Nicki Minaj and Future.
