Rihanna is sitting pretty at the top. The pop princess scores the first No. 1 album of her career with her latest, Unapologetic.
The seventh LP from the Bajan singer sold 238,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In addition to being her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200, it also marks the biggest sales week of her career, surpassing 2010’s Loud (207,000). She now has seven top 10 albums dating back to her 2005 debut Music of the Sun.
RiRi took to Twitter to share her excitement. “Wait!!!!! What the FUCK?!!!! #UNAPOLOGETIC just debuted at #1 in AMERICA!!!!! My first number 1 album there!!! Thank you Navy, u deserve it,” she told her fans. “I’m legit crying like a pussy right now!!”
Just last week, Rihanna landed her 12th chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Diamonds,” which ties Madonna’s record for most No. 1s on the chart by a female.
Elsewhere, Keyshia Cole’s Woman to Woman enters at No. 10 (96,000), Pitbull’s Global Warming heats up the No. 14 spot (64,000), and Nicki Minaj’s re-release Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up sits at No. 27 (36,000).
