Nicki Minaj has taken the fashion world by storm. But there’s one prize she still has her eye on—the cover of Vogue. The hip-hop diva’s manager is determined to get his client’s face on the front of the fashion bible.
The 29-year-old rapper, who has already graced the covers of fashion magazines including W, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and V, is working her way towards the Vogue cover. “That’s on my wish list,” her manager Cortez Bryant told The New York Times. “I hope. I hope.”
Nicki herself has referenced her desire to land the coveted cover on her debut album Pink Friday. “Ayo Anna Wintour, I’ma need that cover, baby girl,” she raps on the song “Muny.”
She is already making headway, having appeared front row at New York Fashion Week with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. She also hired public relations firm 42 West, who represents Lady Gaga and Rihanna, among others.
Additionally, the M.A.C Cosmetics spokeswoman has plans to launch her own clothing line. Bryant is negotiating a deal with a fashion house to sell the collection. “She is all about her brand and where she wants to go,” he said.
