Mariah Carey

’Tis the season for Mariah Carey. The festive diva rang in the holidays early by appearing on the Home Shopping Network (HSN) to play snippets of her holiday album Merry Christmas II You, due November 2. The sequel to her best-selling Christmas album of all-time includes production from Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Randy Jackson, Marc Shaiman, James “Big Jim” Wright, James Poyser, and more.

Mimi hits the high notes on the ballad “The First Noel,” cooing over an emphatic snare drum on “Little Drummer Boy,” and fronts a gospel choir on “O Come All Ye Faithful,” a duet with her mother Patricia Carey.

“A lot of people look at making a Christmas album like, ‘Oh, it’s just a throwaway thing and then I’ll do my real album,'” said the Christmas queen. “For me, these are timeless pieces of work that can last year after year after year and so I want to be able to listen to it.”

Kick off the holiday season now by listening to the clips and interview below.
