Jay-Z and Trey Songz

Jay-Z finally took up his invitation to the White House, and brought along his tourmate Trey Songz.

While in town for the latest stop on his “BP3” tour at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday (March 3), the hip-hop superstar stopped by the Oval Office for a quick, unscheduled visit with President Obama, according to a White House official.

Jay-Z shared the news with fans during his show, while wishing a White House staffer’s child happy birthday, reports The Washington Post. “I don’t know where you are, but happy birthday. I just came from the White House. And your pop works there. He said, ‘Happy Birthday,'” he announced.

Hov has been invited to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the past, but his busy schedule didn’t allow him to make the visit until now. “I’ve been invited a couple times, I’ve just been on the road with this new album,” he told Jonathan Ross last month. The President of the United States has said that he is a fan of Jay-Z, who supported his bid for presidency.

Trey Songz also met the Commander-in-Chief and couldn’t wait to tell his fans. “Had the honor of meeting Barack Obama today – Surreal – GOD bless The President and his family,” he tweeted. “He told me ‘Congratulations on all your success, I’m proud of you.'”
