After delivering a baby girl in February and tweeting about it, Erykah Badu is giving birth to a new project: her sixth studio album.
Badu makes her return to music on August 18 with New Amerykah, Part 2 (Return of the Ankh), staging-rapup.kinsta.cloud has learned. The effort is the sequel to last year’s New Amerykah, Part 1 (4th World War).
Named after the Egyptian hieroglyphic character meaning “eternal life,” Ankh is more spiritual and emotional than its predecessor. “Part 2 would be the other group of songs which are more right brained and emotional if you will,” the singer told the Austin American-Statesman in March. “They fit together like a puzzle sonically, how they sound, how they feel.”
