MTV’s music video premiere show “FNMTV” ended its inaugural season with a bang on Wednesday in Hollywood.

Scheduled guests Cassie, Pink, John Legend, and Ne-Yo made for a jam-packed hour, but what put the cherry on top were the surprise appearances. Of course, Diddy popped up during the premiere of Cassie’s “Official Girl” video featuring Lil Wayne, excitedly tapping his toe and dancing the way only he knows how. He brought with him a bouquet of flowers sure to be for his artist and rumored “unofficial girl.” Instead they were given to MTV music critic James Montgomery, just before he gave his thoughts on Cassie’s video. Clad in knee-high Gucci boots and an altered hot pink Pleasure Principle dress, Cassie dished to host Pete Wentz that she was once the side chick she sings about.

The noise level in the building rose more than a few decibels when the next surprise guest emerged. Clearly he was given the name Ladies Love Cool James for a reason, because the lip-licking rapper caused a frenzy when he popped up on set as this week’s celebrity commentator.

Pink showed us that she is still dealing with her divorce from freestyle motorcross star Carey Hart, with the premiere of her new single “So What” off of her upcoming album Funhouse, which actually features Hart. Funhouse was the pop star’s next best choice since she said she really wanted to name it Heartbreak is a Motherfucker, but couldn’t.

John Legend’s one-of-a-kind voice filled the studio when he premiered his unexpected new video for “Green Light” featuring André 3000 off his album Evolver. More upbeat than we are used to from Legend, the song will definitely be a “club banger” according to LL Cool J.

We were lucky to see Ne-Yo perform not once but twice, both his chart-topping single “Closer” and latest single “Miss Independent,” off the forthcoming aptly titled Year of the Gentleman. The singer is living up to his gentleman title as he insisted on a hug instead of a handshake.
